Times Herald to show local gas prices on website

The Washington Times Herald will now show local consumers how much gas stations are charging in Washington and surrounding towns.

The newspaper has partnered with popular gas price website gasbuddy.com to create a map showing prices on the Times Herald’s website, washtimesherald.com.

The map went live Wednesday afternoon with updated gas prices from Washington, Plainville, Odon, Elnora, Loogootee and other areas.

Gasbuddy.com posts information on gas prices from stations across the country submitted from local members. On the Times Herald’s map, information was posted from gasbuddy.com members as early as Wednesday morning.

“In these trying economic times, people need to have information available to them so they can best make use of their financial resources and patronage,” Times Herald Assistant Editor Todd Lancaster said.

According to the map, Washington had the highest prices in the area, ranging up to $3.36 a gallon. The lowest prices were, on Wednesday, in Loogootee as they were $3.07 a gallon.

Nationally, gas prices are averaging $3.23 a gallon. In Indiana, the average price per gallon is $3.19.

To find the map on the website, click on the button named “Area Gas Prices” on the left rail of our homepage.
