fire report

At 4:45 a.m. Monday, the Washington City Fire Department received a call about a house fire at 403 North St. The vacant house, with no utilities, is owned by Daniel Schnell, of Schnellville, Ind. Fire Chief Dave Rhoads said the fire was contained to the front porch of the home but a small unattached shed was destroyed by the fire.

Firefighters are unsure if the shed fire was a separate incident that led to the house fire. A call was made to Schell and a voicemail was left. It is undetermined if Schnell had insurance on the property. The investigation is on going. The department spent about two hours on the scene.
