MONTGOMERY — A nine-year-old Amish boy was pronounced dead following a barn accident on Monday.
According to a release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s department, the boy, Michael Stoll, was found by family members in a hay loft on the family’s property at 10263E 725N. The caller, who was not identified, did not know if the boy, son of Stephen and Karen Stoll, was breathing or how long the boy was up in the hay loft.
At 5:03 p.m., deputies, along with volunteers from the Odon and Madison Volunteer Fire Departments, found the boy unresponsive and immediately performed CPR. The boy was then transported to Daviess Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances involved in the boy’s death, but the death was ruled accidental following an initial investigation.
An autopsy was performed on Tuesday in Loogootee.
