3 women arrested in welfare check

WASHINGTON — Three Washington women were arrested by city police Wednesday night following a welfare check.

At 7:02 p.m., officers were asked to meet state police at 2304 Oak Grove Road for a welfare check on Sheila Ann Burris, 49, Washington. Burris, according to dispatch reports, had cut off a tracking braclet and did not show up for a court hearing in Dubois County.

Burris was found with Carla Kaye Campbell, 61, Washingon and Lona Jo Murray, 43, Washington, at the address. All three were taken to the Daviess County Security Center.

Burris was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, escape, and obstruction of justice. She was held without bond.

Campbell and Murray were arrested for visiting a common nuisance. Both were being held on $2,000 bond.
