WASHINGTON — The Washington City Council will meet in special session at 5 p.m. Monday at the City Council chambers, 200 Harned Ave. On the agenda is a discussion of redistricting.

Pictures with Santa today

Pictures with Santa will be taken from 9 a.m. to noon today at the Times-Herald office. Packages will be available to order and pictures will be published in the newspaper.

Breakfast with Santa coming

Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold its annual Breakfast With Santa from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Kiwanis Cabin at Eastside Park. Donut holes, juice and milk, $2; pictures with Santa, $3. Tickets available at the door.

Christmas          program at B-R

The Barr-Reeve Elementary grades 3, 4 and 5 will present a Christmas music program at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Barr-Reeve High School gym. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

Winter coats for Sandy victims

Helping Hands Christian Mission is collecting new and hardly used clean winter coats to be delivered to the Catholic Relief Services in Trenton, N.J., for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Deadline for drop off is Friday, Dec. 7. Coats may be dropped off at Jones and Sons Concrete in Washington; St. Peter Catholic Church (east door), Traylor Fertilizer Service or Traylor Chiropractic in Montgomery; and Burch’s Veterinary Clinic in Loogootee.

Reading round table at library

The Carnegie Public Library, 300 W. Main St., will hold a reading roundtable at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the small meeting room at the library. The group meets once a month to share what you are reading with others, and gain new insights into fellow patron’s opinions on new and old books. For more information call the library at 254-4586.

Odon Library trustee meeting

The Board of Trustees of the Odon Winklepleck Public Library will meet at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the library.

Candle lighting at park

The Compassionate Friends of the Washington Area Chapter will hold its 5th Annual Candle Lighting and Evening of Remembrance at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Community Building at Eastside Park. Bring a picture of your loved one so it can be placed on the remembrance tables. Candles will be provided. Open to the public. Refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.
