WASHINGTON — CITY REPORT

Thursday

9:02 p.m. - Joyce Cox reported nails and screws on W. VanTrees Street. A neighbor picked up the metal items and the street department was notified.

4:39 p.m. - Becky Hemingway said a house was opened up on Magnolia Drive and the residents were not home. Nothing was found missing.

CITY ACCIDENT

Tuesday

1 p.m. - Shawn M. Malone, 36, Rockville, was driving a 1996 Dodge Intrepid east on U.S. 50 near Bussard Road when a 1991 Toyota Corrolla, driven by Robert L. Taylor, 40, 376 100S, Apt. 69, pulled in front of him and the two collided. Taylor was talking on a cell phone at the time and reportedly did not stop. There were no injuries and damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

COUNTY REPORT

Thursday

4:10 p.m. - A male caller at 3436 Old U.S. 50 reported the theft of several items, including an ATV, two chainsaws, a weed trimmer, two stepladders and shovels. A report was made and extra patrol was requested.

10:59 a.m. - An employee of the Odon Chuckle’s station reported a drive-off worth $29.97 in gas. A truck was seen leaving the scene.

10:12 a.m. - An employee of West Boggs Park reported a boat motor stolen. A report was made

COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Friday

1:53 a.m. - Ronald Hearne, 27, Indianapolis, was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am east on W. National Highway when a deer reportedly crossed the road. He swerved to miss the deer, hitting a guard rail.  No one was injured, but Hearne was taken into custody for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Thursday

12:09 p.m. - Anthony J. Byrer, 45, 1401 McCormick Ave., was driving a 2010 International semi owned by Perdue Farms on SR 57 near CR 440N when a deer crossed the road. The semi hit the deer and damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Wednesday

11:45 a.m. - Dennis L. Wagoner, 60, Loogootee, was driving his 2011 Nissan SUV at the intersection of CRs 725S and 1175E when the vehicle became stranded due to high water. Severe water damage was reported and damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.

ARRESTS

David Thomas Booher, 22, Washington, was arrested by city police Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated by a controlled substance. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center on $2,000 bond.

Mary Smith, 58, Washington, was arrested by Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies Friday for domestic battery.  She was being held on $2,000 bond.

Ronald Hearne, 27, Indianapolis, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or more. He was being held without bond.
