---- — PETERSBURG — As of late morning today, authorities had not yet released the name of a man who died after a Friday afternoon accident at Five Star Prosperity Mine, 6594 W. State Road 56.
The mine is operated by Five Star Mining Inc. and owned by Vectren.
Vectren spokesman Chase Kelley said a minor was lucid and conscious as he was transported to the surface after suffering injuries to his lower torso and leg Friday. He was airlifted to a Louisville hospital but died Friday night because of complications from his injuries, Kelley said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
