---- — The March Beginnings met July 10 at Vickie Reed’s home for its regular meeting and Shirley Henson was hostess. Sandy York led the club in the pledge to the flag and the homemaker’s creed. Roll call was answered and the song of the month was sung. York gave the treasurer’s report and Karen Barnard read the minutes of the last meeting.
It was reported the 4-H Fair will be July 12-19 and the club planned to work in the arena and food stand as a fundraiser for homemakers. York will be helping the judges at the clothing and consumer clothing judging.
The fall district meeting will be held at the American Legion in Ferdinand on Aug. 20. Cost is $9 and is due by Aug. 9. The fall Homemakers Conference-Nourish Your Body will be in Vanderburgh County on Sept. 10. Cost for this is $5 and is due by Sept. 5 or one can pre-register and pay at the door. The State Fair is Aug. 2-18 and York read the article in the newsletter, “Year of Popcorn--Indiana State Fair.”
Barnard gave a special interest lesson on “July is Blueberry Month” and a leader lesson titled “Foods for Healthy Aging.”
After dismissing with the prayer song, new program books were filled out. Barnard won the hostess gift and Reed, York, Barnard and Stephanie Eagen received gifts from their secret pals.
The next meeting will be Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at Reed’s home. Eagen will be hostess.
