Indiana State Police say the pilot was the only person on board, and his condition is unknown.
The impact left the plane’s cockpit area separated from the tail section and the wing’s mangled as it came to a stop near a tree line.
The crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Filmmaker gives proceeds to cinema
FORT WAYNE (AP) — A Fort Wayne filmmaker who runs a one-man production company is screening his first feature film “Aftermath” as a fundraiser for a not-for-profit film society in his hometown.
Robert Thompson tells The Journal Gazette that he and other local production companies would be in trouble if it weren’t for the Cinema Center. All proceeds will benefit the theater’s ongoing digital projector fund.
The cinema received two matching grants in June totaling $25,000. It is seeking to buy a $50,000 digital projector by the end of this year.
Cinema Center Executive Director Jonah Crismore says the society exists to help people like Thompson.
Thompson says “Aftermath” will be shown at Cinema Center on Sunday and has been accepted into the 2013 Fright Night Film Festival next week in Louisville, Ky.
