Fireworks blamed for field fire

Wednesday

2:48 p.m. - An employee of Chuckle’s, 201 N.E. Fifth St., reported a drive-off worth $34.07. No vehicle was described.

8:41 a.m. - A female caller saw a baggie containing a suspicious substance at the dumpsters at Westwood Crossing. The substance was tobacco and disposed of.

Tuesday

5:39 p.m. - An employee of Chuckle’s, 201 N.E. Fifth St., reported a drive-off worth $28.15 possibly by a green Pontiac Grand-Am.

COUNTY REPORT

Tuesday

10:06 p.m. - A male caller reported a field fire started by fireworks near 3484W U.S 50. Washington Township volunteer firefighters extinguished the fire and deputies confiscated fireworks from two individuals at 713 S. Akester Road and explained to them the importance of firework safety.

8:38 a.m. - A male caller reported cattle out on CR 350E. The owner of the cows was contacted,

8:28 a.m. - A caller reported a truck from a construction crew working on CR 900E was parked at the crest of a hill. The truck had been moved when deputies arrived.

ARRESTS

Ryan Joseph Mattingly, 27, Loogootee, was arrested by Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence for criminal trespassing. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center on $2,000 bond.

Tyler Nading, 21, Washington, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday on a warrant for burglary and theft. He was released from the security center on $2,500 bond.

Aaron Wininger, 22, Washington, was arrested by state police Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was being held on $2,000 bond.
