Alleged drunk driver clips mailboxes

---- — A Washington man was arrested for drunken driving following an accident on N.W. Seventh Street Tuesday.

According to dispatch reports, a male caller called city police at 9:37 p.m. after a Hispanic male drove through three mailboxes. The car then fell into a ditch near the street and the caller was next to the car.

Officers found one mailbox was damaged, but debris was found in the street where the vehicle had run through. The driver, Sergio Zaragoza, 24, Washington, was then arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or higher, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while never licensed and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center on $8,000 bond.
