27 slideoffs in county on Wednesday

2:52 a.m. ­ Officers reported to the residence of Donald Altmeyer at 812 Maxwell Ave. in Washington at the report of a prowler outside of the residence. Altmeyer reported his dogs barking like crazy, and running back and forth from the back yard to the front porch. Altmeyer requested an office check around the house for a prowler, officer found nothing to report.

12:37 p.m. ­ Robert Warne, of 1413 Memorial Ave. in Washington advised officers that his residence had been broken into Wednesday evening. Officers observed a broken glass window in the front of the house, and foot prints in the snow, but no detailed foot prints could be taken. $218 was taken from Warne¹s wallet. No finger prints were left on the inside of the residence.



12:49 a.m. ‹ A caller said a male jumped out a black truck with a red pinstripe on Corning Road and then heard a possible gunshot. The report was unfounded.


3:49 p.m. ‹ A male caller said an 85-year-old male in Elnora fell in his back yard. The male refused medical treatment and went back inside his house.

7:23 a.m. ‹ A caller said his semi trailer was sideways on I-69 south.

Deputies could not get on the interestate to check due to large snow drifts.

7:06 a.m. ‹ A caller advised a Jeep was on its side on Troy Road. The driver was not injured and the Jeep was corrected.

7 a.m. ‹ A caller reported a very large snow drift blocking traffic on the

I-69 offramp to U.S. 50.

In all, approximately 27 slideoffs and accidents were reported due to the snowstorms.


Emily Claire Butler, 18, 1351N 100W, was arrested by city police Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of

.015 and operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering another person. She was releaed from the Daviess County Security Center on $400 bond.

Marcello Hernandez, 38, 104 Mill St., was arrested by city polce Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. He was being held on $4,000 bond.
