North Daviess senior Braden Lawyer was presented a scholarship from the Daviess County Extension Homemakers earlier this week during the annual achievement night program held at Knepp’s Restaurant. Lawyer’s grandmother Eleanor, is a member of the group.
Lawer, also the recipient of the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, will be attending Purdue University where he plans to study pre-medicine, health and human services. Very active in the community as well as in school, Lawyer has participated in tennis, band and various clubs and is class president among other things. He is also a member of 4-H and works maintenance for the town of Plainville.
In addition to the scholarship portion of the program, the March Beginnings was honored for 25 years of service and Think Young was honored for 50 years of service. Beverly Thompson was also recognized for being a 50-year member of the club and Vicky Reedy was recognized for 25-years of membership.
During a special ceremony, Jennifer Stefancik installed the officers for 2014-2015. Stacey Lasher was again installed at the president of the Extension Homemakers, Sandy York as vice president, Beverly Thompson as secretary and publicity, and Karen Barnard as treasurer.
