WASHINGTON — Girl Scouts selling cookies Saturday
Girl Scouts from Griffith Elementary will be at Walmart and Family Video Saturday selling Girl Scout cookies.
Slavery topic of presentation
Rebekah Pinkham will be giving a presentation for International Jutice Mission at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church in Washington. Pinkham, who will soon be heading to south Asia for a 1-year mission with the group, will be talking about the state of slavery in Asia. The mission is one of the leading organizations in the world in combatting sex trafficking and eradicating modern slavery.
Financial aid workshop Sunday
Financial aid professionals will be at Vincennes University’s Shake Learning Resources Center, the VU Jasper Campus Nursing Classroom Building and 39 other Indiana sites to help college-bound students and their families apply for financial aid during College Goal Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Shake Learning Resources Center is located at the corner of Second and Indianapolis streets in Vincennes, and the Nursing Building is located at 850 College Ave. on the VU Jasper Campus.
Weather spotter class on Monday
The public is invited to attend a free Severe Weather Spotters Seminar at 6:30 p.m. Monday at North Elementary School. The two-hour presentation will be given by a senior weather forecaster from the Indianapolis National Weather Service Office. Sponsored jointly by the Daviess, Martin and Knox County Emergency Management Agencies, attendees will learn how to report severe weather and what to report. Preregistration is not required. Daviess County Emergency Management Director Paul Goss said it’s important to have knowledgeable people to report weather conditions accurately because weather radar doesn’t cover every location.
