Saturday's police report

7:38 a.m. - An employee of the city utility office said a stolen electric meter was being used at 1603 Vincennes Ave. Officers spoke with a resident of the house, who said he used a meter from a neighboring house that was being torn down. The utilities were shut off at the home the day before.

12:40 a.m. - A male caller said someone was trying to open a door at 1604 Grand Ave. Officers could not find anyone in the area but granted extra patrol.


6:20 p.m. - A Daviess County Sheriff’s deputy said a semi was heading north on SR 57 but about to lose an industrial load. Officers could not locate a semi matching that description.

3:39 p.m. - A female caller said her nephew was struck by a red van heading west on Bent Avenue. The boy, who had minor bruising, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for observation. Family members described the driver as a Hispanic male. The van did not have any license plates and was heading west on Oak Grove Road. Officers searched the area and the Perdue processing plant but no vehicle matching the description could be found.



11:33 a.m. - A female caller at 910 W. Old U.S. 50 reported the back door to her home was found open and also saw two suspicious men in a gold van. She requested extra patrol.



3:42 p.m. - Bryan W. McKown, 40, 326 S.E. Seventh St., was pulling into Old U.S. 50 W from CR 150W in a 1995 Chevrolet truck when he collided with a 1998 Ford F-150 truck driven by Dawn M. McCoy, 38, Linton. There were no injuries and damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.


Derek Austin Eller, 23, Washington, was arrested by city police Thursday for domestic battery. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center without bond.
