WASHINGTON — At approximately 4 p.m. Sunday, the Washington Police Department received a 911 call about a missing five year old child at Eastside Park.
The child, who was actually four years old, was located in the water of the overflow area of Baumert Lake near the park pavilion around 4:08 p.m. CPR was given and the child, David E. Weathers, was transported to Daviess Community Hospital of Southwest Medical where the child was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the drowning continues, but Police Chief Mike Healy said the drowning appeared to be accidental.
"It is something no family should ever have to go through and our hearts go out to them," said Healy.
