Caller said windshield broken by bottle

WASHINGTON — CITY REPORT

Wednesday

12:02 p.m. - Abby Spaulding said a semi hit utility poles on E. Main Street and left the scene. A cable line was damaged.

2:34 a.m. - A male caller said two other persons tried to steal a license plate from a vehicle parked at White River Automotive, 14 S.E. Fifth St. A temporary tag was taken but no one was seen in the area.

Tuesday

6:58 p.m. - Multiple power outages were reported on the east side of Washington and in Montgomery. Line crews were called.

5:38 p.m. - Keith Bateman reported finding his stolen bicycle near Clark and Cosby roads. The serial numbers matched and the bike was returned.

COUNTY REPORT

Tuesday

9:21 p.m. - Several calls from 338 W. Myers St. and other locations in Montgomery were made regarding stolen items. Among the items reported were a cell phone, MP3 player, golf cart, GPS and other items were taken. The thefts are under investigation.

5:54 p.m. - A caller said limbs and debris were down on SR 57 between SR 58 and Elnora. A deputy removed some debris that could have been a traffic hazard.

1:25 a.m. - A male caller said the windshield of his vehicle was broken while following a semi on U.S. 50. The caller said the driver of the semi threw something out of a window, like a soda bottle, and broke the windshield. The driver could not get a description of the semi.

COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Monday

8:49 p.m.- Oden Escobar Serrano, 26, Huntingburg, was driving a 1990 Honda Accord south on SR 257 when he lost control and spun into a curve. Serrano was not injured, but was arrested for operating a vehicle without a license. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

5:52 p.m. - Menno D. Lengacher, 58, 6651N 775E, was driving a buggy south on CR 900E in a rainstorm with no headlights. He attempted to get off the road at Wagler’s Cemetery when he was struck by a 2008 Ford F-350 driven by John A. Swartzentruber, 28, Odon. Lengacher suffered bruising to his head and back and was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for observation. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

Saturday

9:41 a.m. - Christopher A. Myers, 49, 556E 150N, was driving a 1999 Ford Expedition west on U.S. 50 when he collided into the back of a 2002 Toyota truck, driven by Michael E. Moody, 60, Columbus, who then collided into the back of a 2003 Dodge Ram truck driven by Jeffrey D. Lundy, 42, Shoals.



Both vehicles were slowing for another vehicle pulling into a driveway at 8780E U.S. 50.  A passenger in the Moody’s vehicle, Diane Moody, complained of back pain and was taken to Daviess Community Hospital.

Damage from the accident was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.

ARRESTS

Regan Stephanie Tinsley, 27, Washington, was arrested by city police Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusing a test and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person. She was being held at the Daviess County Security Center without bond.

Corey Shane Vaught, 38, Odon, was arrested by Odon police Wednesday for domestic battery. He was being held on $2,000 bond.
