---- — Fans of award-winning author and best selling author Beverly Lewis will have a chance to meet with the writer of Amish fiction as well as several children’s books Tuesday at the Bible Bookstore in Vincennes.
Lewis will be at the store, located at 105 Main St., at 7 p.m.
“We are very fortunate to have Beverly come back to our store to promote her fourth book in the Home to Hickory Hollow series,” said Chad Tevebaugh, owner of The Bible Bookstore.
“She was here in 2008 and our store was one of the biggest stops on her tour then.”
The new book “The Secret Keeper” discusses the struggles that Jennifer Burns faces after she leaves her modern, English life in favor of the Old Order Amish. Burns moves in with an Amish couple and the whole Hickory Hollow community is curious about the beautiful young woman now in the community. Along the way, Jenny faces challenges in the proving time the brethern set for her including challenges of the heart and spirit.
Tevebaugh said in her previous visit Lewis, whose maternal grandmother had left her Old Order Mennonite upbringing to marry a student attending Bible College, had over 150 people attend her last signing in about an hour.
“The response was over whelming. She has a lot of fans in this area and I think having the Amish community near by helps with the popularity of her signing events locally as well,” said Tevebaugh.
Lewis, who resides in Colorado with her husband, David, has always enjoyed writing but did not seek to have her work published until her children were in middle school.
Her first published works were children’s short stories that were published in “Highlights for Children” and other magazines geared toward kids.
Her first book written for adults, “The Heritage of Lancaster County” is part of a best-selling trilogy.
Those wishing to attend the book signing can purchase copies of the book in advance but Tevebaugh said that copies of Lewis’ other books can also be signed by the author.
