Services for Lt. Col. Faith Jr.

WASHINGTON — To honor Lt. Col. Don Carlos Faith Jr.'s funeral at Arlington, the city of Washington will hold a memorial at his birthplace.

A memorial serivce will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Hill of Heroes at Eastside Park near the Faith monument. Area veterans from the American Legion and VFW posts, along with students from the WHS NJROTC corps, will take part in the ceremony. A wreath will be laid at the memorial. The public is invited.

In addition, Washington mayor Joe Wellman has declared that all flags in the city are to be flown at half mast for 24 hours, starting at 6 a.m.

Wednesday.

The events are in conjunction with burial of Lt. Col. Faith at Arlington National Cemetery. Faith, originally from Washington, was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for actions in the Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War. His remains were identified last year and will be buried next to his parents.
