Rural Water flushing today
Daviess County Rural Water Systems will start its spring flushing today on all customers and continue throughout the month of May.
Flushing in the south area will start at Bussard Road and continue south. In the north area it will start at CR 100N and continue north.
Low water pressure may be experienced while flushing in customers’ area. After flushing customer may also have discolored water for a short time. For questions or further information, call 254-4526.
Red Cross blood drive today
The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in May.
Today - Washington Catholic High School, 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
May 17 - Daviess Community Hospital, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
May 30 - Walmart, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
May 30 - Free Methodist Church, 1155 Troy Rd., 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days.
The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.
B-R spring chorus concert Saturday
The Barr-Reeve High School chorus will present its Spring Chorus Concert Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barr-Reeve cafeteria.
Prior to the concert there will be a meal served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., followed by an award program at 6:45 p.m.
The meal will consist of Mr. Gatti’s pizza, salad, dessert, and a drink for $6 per ticket. Preschool and under are free. Admission to the concert only is free.

Relay for Life meeting Saturday
There will be a Relay for Life committee meeting Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Daviess Community Hospital Education Room 1 (near the cafeteria), followed by a team captain meeting at 10 a.m.
Mail carriers to collect food
The U.S. Postal Service and Washington letter carriers will be conducting its annual food drive on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to their mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday.
Donated food will be taken to Feed My Sheep in Washington.
