WASHINGTON — SAFS events for next week

Monday - Jason Clements spring cleaning bingo 10 a.m.; Enhance Fitness, 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday - Movie and snack, 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday - Eastgate Manor biscuits and gravy, 8:30 a.m.; bingo, 10 a.m.; Enhance Fitness, 2:30 p.m.

Thursday - Bible study, 10 a.m.; Crochet Club, 1 p.m.

Friday - Good Samaritan Home Health bingo, 10 a.m.; Enhance Fitness, 2:30 p.m.

City Council meets Monday

Washington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday with a public hearing on water system block grant.

The council meeting will follow. Items on the agenda include: firefighter recognition; petition against enforcement of two hour parking; reading of resolutions; final reading of ordinances; housing grant; INDOT property.

The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet following the Council meeting. Items to be discussed: claims and permits; request to close part of N.W. 15th St. on June 29 for Victory Tabernacle Church event; damage of city property.

Commissioners to meet Monday

Daviess County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse. Items included on the agenda: education initiative; Ordinance 2013-3; hospital board of governors appointments; longevity committee appointments; revolving loan corp appointment; change of venue for June meeting.

Pike School Board to meet

Pike County School Corporation Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The regular session will be at 7 p.m.

B-R 5th, 6th bands to play

The Barr-Reeve fifth and sixth grade bands will hold their annual concert on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the caftertorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert will begin with the fifth grade band featuring their contest songs and “Eye of the Tiger”. The sixth grade will also perform their contest songs and “Smoke on the Water” as well as “Shake, Rattle, and Roll.”

Awards will be presented at the end of the concert.

Benefit for hearing next week

There will be a benefit cookout and silent auction from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Integrity Hearing Center, 11912E 800N, Loogootee. Carry out dinners available. Call 636-0037 to pre-order. All of the proceeds will go to Integrity Hearing Children’s Hearing Foundation to help pay for hearing instruments.

Four Rivers board to meet

The Daviess/Martin Four Rivers Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Daviess County Division conference room in Washington. The agenda for the meeting will be posted at both Four Rivers offices in Washington and Loogootee.
