---- — An Odon businessman and banker is looking for a third term on the Daviess County Council. Dave Smith has filed as a republican seeking re-election to the District One seat on the council. Smith has spent the last 25 years with the Bank of Odon and is currently a vice president. Before that he spent seven years as the owner and operator of the True Value hardware store.
“I have lived in Odon almost all of my life and have a great interest in the future of Daviess County, especially the North Daviess area,” said Smith. “We have seen a lot of changes over the last eight years with the WestGate Tech Park and several new businesses in the area. My hope is that our children will be able to find good paying jobs here in Daviess County.”
In making his announcement Smith also pointed to the changes resulting from the construction of I-69. “Change is not always easy and the I-69 project was an example of that,” he said. “Many people were forced to move so the construction could be completed. I thank those who made these moves. Some giving up land that had been in the family for years so that Daviess County could have the opportunity to grow and better fill the needs of the future.”
Smith says he hopes his experience on the council can help the county move forward. “We face a lot of challenges in the future as the county grows and I hope we can continue to work together for the right solution,” he said. “I hope the things I have learned over the past eight years will help me make the right decisions on issues in the future. I will always be glad to listen to your input on any issues that you would want to discuss. Just call me.”
Smith and his wife Beverly are involved in several area and civic organizations including the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce, Odon Park Board, North Daviess Dollars for Scholars, Odon Business Association, Odon Lion’s Club, Ketchem Memorial Center Board, Daviess County Community Foundation, Odon Alumni Association and the Spirit of Christmas Board.
