Police report


3:30 p.m. - A caller near 1617 W. Old Nat’l Hwy reported a car in the ditch near Tabor Crane.

2:47 p.m. - An employee of Chuckles, SR 57, reported a vehicle drove off without paying for $40 in gas. The employee had the driver’s license of the subject who drove off.

1:42 p.m. - A caller near 3271 N. CR 1050 E. reported a male subject had walked into her house and then left. The caller was following the male subject who was heading toward Loogootee.

9:33 a.m. - A caller on U.S. 50 near the Antioch Christian Church reported a reckless driver in a gold Chevy Silverado. The vehicle had handicapped plates.



3:13 p.m. - A caller on SR 57 found a license plate.


1:51 p.m. - A caller on Meridian St. reported debris in the roadway.

Martin County

Travis Salmon, 21, Loogootee, was arrested Friday by Loogootee police on two counts of batter and domestic battery. He is being held in the Martin County jail. No bond was listed.


Anthony Ray Lawson, 26, Elnora, was arrested Saturday by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Bond was set at $2,000.

11:20 a.m. - Tyler A. Melton, 22, Odon, was traveling west on CR 1100 N. when he tried to apply his brakes to stop at the intersection of CR 700 E. He slid into the intersection on the loose gravel due to poor tires and was going to back up but he did not see a vehicle driven by Zachary D. Morris, 29, Odon. Morris had the right of way at the intersection and said he did not see Melton’s vehicle until he heard the crash and saw he had struck the vehicle driven by Melton. Morris’ vehicle had struck the left front bumper of Melton’s vehicle. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
