One man was taken into custody after a shooting on Wykoff Lane Tuesday.
Around 2:05 p.m. a call came into the Washington Police Department from an employee of Lena Dunn Elementary School advising of loud, popping noises coming from near Wykoff Lane. Officers were dispatched to the scene but were unable to locate anyone at the time.
After receiving a second call, officers spoke with school employees and other witnesses to the event. A resident contacted the Times Herald asking for information and said that officers had been searching for something in the area with metal detectors in the early evening hours.
Officers were then able to determine that a shooting had taken place on Wykoff Lane. No one was injured in the incident and Jalen Dewayne Walls, 18, Washington, was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and intimidation. He is being held without bond in the Daviess County Security Center.
