Friday's police report

1:08 p.m. - A caller near SR 57 and E. Main Street reported a full-size white van painted with flowers ran a red light and was headed west on Main Street.

12:36 p.m. - A caller at 1310 W. VanTrees St. reported that an identified subject had taken the prescriptions of subject living in her residence.

10:28 a.m. - A complainant on station reported that an unauthorized subject had been using her First Financial Bank account. The transactions had been made more than one time.

8:51 a.m. - Officers responded to a call near First St. and E. VanTrees. The driver of a Dodge had lost the driver’s side front wheel to the vehicle. When officers arrived, the vehicle had also lost it’s driver’s side rear wheel. The loss of the wheels resulted in damage to the front fender. The driver said she had her oil changed and tired rotated at a local service station.


9:10 p.m. - Lucy Mavicis advised an elderly male subject was stuck in an elevator at 520 SE Second St. The man was rescued from the elevator and the elevator was closed.

8:50 p.m. - Over 20 calls were received for power outages.

6:07 p.m. - Rex Chapman, no address given, advised his residence had been broken into via the back door. A handgun was missing.

5:58 p.m. - Connie McCracken, 1004 Wykoff Lane, reported her mailbox post had been hit and destroyed.

4:40 p.m. - Betty Sholts, 610 SE First St., reported that her child had been bitten by a Boston Terrier. The owner of the dog said the animal would be surrendered once it returned home.



6:29 p.m. - A caller said sheep were out near SR 57N. The owner of the sheep was contacted.

9:16 a.m. - A male caller reported an accident on Hudsonville Road, just west of the fish hatchery. One person was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for unknown injuries. An accident report is being completed.


Kelly Jo Spinks, 59, Washington, was arrested by city police Wednesday for driving while suspended. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center on $2,000 bond.

Rachel Steele, 34, Elnora, was arrested by Odon police Wednesday for theft. She was released on $2,500 bond.

Scott Wagler, 36, Washington, was arrested by Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday on a failure to appear warrant for criminal conversion. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Christopher West, 43, Boonville, was arrested by state police Wednesday for resisting law enforcement in a vehicle. He was being held on $2,500 bond.

Shooting being investigated Around 11 p.m. last night Daviess County Sheriff's Department and the Washington Police Department both started receiving cell phone calls from a male subject who advised that another make subject had fired shots and struck a third male subject in the chest. Officers tried to locate the caller who said he was being chased by the shooter but were unable to find him. The incident is still under investigation.
