GLEZEN — A Pike County traffic accident claimed the life of a Monroe City woman Tuesday afternoon.

Indiana State Police reported 53-year-old Nancy Jones was a passenger in 2000 Ford Taurus driven by Kathleen Blagrave, 57, also of Monroe City, and the women were southbound on SR 57, just south of CR 125S, when the accident occurred. Aaron Craig, 28, Huntingburg, was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Tracker north on SR 57 and attempted to turn left into Tim’s Furniture and Appliance Store located south of CR 125S, pulling into Blagrave’s path.

Jones was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Blagrave, who was wearing her seat belt, also was transported to St. Mary’s, where she was treated and released.

Craig was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where he was being treated for serious injuries. Craig’s passenger, Tommy Saileau, 60, Petersburg, was transported to Deaconess by ambulance to be treated for his injuries. According to Master Trooper Bob Helfrich, neither Craig nor Saileau were wearing a seat belt.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, according to ISP.
