COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Sunday

8:20 a.m. - Emily R. Worobec, 24, Terre Haute, was westbound on W. Nat’l Hwy. in her 2000 Mercury Mountaineer near CR 300W, Maysville, and was not familiar with the area. She was using a GPS application on her cell phone and failed to stop where the road ends at the old White River bridge. She drove off the road and into a “Road Closed” guardrail belonging to INDOT. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

Friday

12:08 p.m. - Nicholas W. Raber, 39, Odon, was eastbound on CR 1200N near CR 1000E in a 1996 International truck when, he stated, he saw Michael L. Eagle, Loogootee, approaching on horseback walking another horse beside him. Raber said as he approached, one horse reared and turned to the left.

He said he was afraid he’d hit them, so he veered right onto the shoulder of the road. When he attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway, he crossed the road and went into Martin Stoll’s yard. Raber then overcorrected to the right, causing the truck to roll over on its side and come to rest on the road.

Eagle said he was westbound to Odon with an inexperienced road horse. He said the horse was uneasy as the truck approached and did rear, but he had the horses under control the whole time.
