---- — MONTGOMERY — In the first golf event of the season, North Daviess placed sixth and Washington finished 10th in the 15-team Washington Invitational Tuesday at Country Oaks.
Evansville North was the winner with a team score of 308. Taylor Howerton of Evansville North was the individual medalist with a 4-under par score of 68.
The Lady Cougars had a team score of 397 and were led by Cassie Knepp and Maggie Schwartzentruber, who each had a score of 95. Meghan Knepp had an even score of 100, while Kirsten Madsen finished at 107, and Mattie Wagler had a score of 120.
Washington finished seven shots back of North Daviess at 404 and was led by Natalya Minehart with a score of 81, followed by Haven Lunsford (103), Alayna Purcell (104) and Cheyanne Jones with a score of 116.
