Washington scored three runs in the top of the first inning and that proved the difference in a 7-4 win against Big 8 Conference foe Vincennes Lincoln Monday.
Washington added a single run in the third before Vincennes scored its first run against Washington starter Brayden Walls.
The Hatchets (6-3, 1-0 Big 8) added two runs in the fourth that the Alices matched. Lincoln scored once in the bottom of the sixth before Washington added the final run in the top of the seventh.
Jake Bedwell pitched the final inning for Washington in relief of Walls who walked five and struck out 10.
Bedwell had two hits for Washington. Nathan Sult, Deron Baxter, Walls, Tyler Edmiston, and Colten Garland had one each.
