WC volleyball falls to Dugger

WASHINGTON — The Washington Catholic volleyball team fell to Duggar Wednesday evening at the Birdcage in three straight games 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.  Elizabeth Brochin led scoring with five points and one ace. Hannah Wild had one ace, four points, three kills and two digs.

Sarah Wichman had one ace, one point and one dig. Cheyanne Stone had two points, two kills and one block. Sarah Wild had one ace, one dig, one block and one point. Mary Anne Wichman had two points, two kills and four digs. Rachel May had one kill and one block.

The Lady Cardinals junior varsity team lost to Dugger in two sets 25-19, 25-9. Kasey Ivy had five points, while Layne Fowler and Shaina Bradley had three each.

Spring travel league tryouts

Washington is hosting spring travel team baseball tryouts for players ages 9-12 (2013 league age).

Tryout dates are Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and Oct. 14 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the little league fields.

The tryouts are conducted by the high school coaching staff.  Players need only to be present for one date. One team per age is planned if group numbers cooperate.

Games are played on weekends from late March through early June.

Players will be able to play in leagues without conflict to league schedules..
