North Daviess broke it school record for volleyball wins in a season by defeating Clay City, 25-19, 24-26, 25-15, 25-11.
The win gave the Cougars a 21-10 record, which is one more than the previous mark of 20-7 set by the 1990 sectional championship team coached by Janis Hert.
“The girls definitely earned this,” North Daviess coach Rebecca Hays said. “They have been working hard and playing well. They set a goal of how many wins they wanted, and they are getting close. We still have two more regular season matches to try to win this week.”
Alexis Brewer had 35 digs and eight service points for North Daviess. Madison Reed had 25 assists, 13 digs and 12 points, Larynda Keith 25 points and 15 digs, Jessica Miller 22 points and 12 digs, Taylor Jeffers 15 points and digs and 10 kills, Lenzi Brewer 10 points and nine assists, Chandra Bruner 10 digs and eight kills, Cari Jo Wilson eight kills and three digs, Randi Pershing a dig and point and Janae Wagler one kill.
North Daviess also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 21-25, 15-13.
