Cougars drop third straight

---- — LYNNVILLE — The North Daviess boys basketball blew a fourth quarter lead and lost its third straight game Friday night.

North Daviess (3-4) fell at Tecumseh 51-47 in its first action since losing two of three games in the Graber Post Buildings Classic.

The Cougars led 37-34 entering fourth quarter, but Tecumseh’s Adam Grannan took over the final eight minutes. Grannan scored 12 of Tecumseh’s 17 fourth quarter points and led all scorers with 29 points, while making 7-of-10 from the foul line. The Cougars were held to 10 points in that final quarter, giving them a four-point defeat.

North Daviess led 14-11 after one quarter and 24-23 at halftime. Senior Brady Helms led the Cougars with eight of his 10 points in the first half, Dusten Cook and Austin Buehler added five points each in the first two quarters.

In the third quarter, pushed the lead to 37-34 behind nine points from Kelby Byrer. Byrer led North Daviess with 14 points and six rebounds. Austin Buehler had five points and 10 rebounds, Dusten Cook had 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

North Daviess will look to snap the three-game losing streak Friday night at Loogootee (3-7). The North Daviess junior varsity lost 37-35, as Jaylen Lengacher scored 11 points and Caleb Wagler had seven points.
