Graber wins 100th match for Washington

SCOTTSBURG — Edgardo Meza went undefeated and Levi Graber reached 100 career victories in the Scottsburg Warrior Classic in high school wrestling.

Meza won all nine of matches at 132-pounds in the two-day event held this past weekend.

"I'm proud of Edgardo going 9-0 in the tournament," Washington coach John Thompson said. "He wrestled so well, very smart. Hopefully, this is a great jump start for him heading into the second half of the season."

Graber won eight of his nine matches at 120 pounds. He now is the fifth wrestler in Washington history to gain the 100 career mark for wins.

"Having Levi join the 100 win club is great," Thompson said. "He has put so much hard work into his season and it has shown." The Hatchets finished 6-3 in the event after 17 days without a match.

Washington defeated Scottsburg 60-6, Southwestern 54-18, Southport 45-33, Providence 54-3 and Indianapolis Chatard, 51-27. Washington also received a forfeit from Mitchell who didn't compete due to weather.

Fort Wayne Concordia (48-36), Greencastle (36-33) and team champion Southridge (33-30), defeated the Hatchets.

"We had to forfeit four weight classes due to illness and weight issues and some not making the trip," Thompson said. "That's giving those teams a 24-point head start. In actual wrestled matches, we beat those teams. I can't be disappointed with our performances. We are a good team." Ryan Koerner (113 pounds) and Edwrin Revolorio (195) also finished the tournament at 8-1. Ritchie Osha was 7-1 at 145 pounds.

Dakota Butler (126), Isaac Drew (138) and Cameron Meade (182) finished at 7-2. Kirk Crecelius (220)) finished 6-2 and Aaron Cissell (170) finished 6-3.

"All of our guys had winning records, and on the season have winning records with single digit losses," Thompson said. "Statistically, this is the best team we have ever had in terms of individual wins and pins. This is a very positive sign for the post season."
