---- — Hatchets win Invitational

The Washington boys tennis team (15-2) won the Washinton Invitational Saturday at Lena Dunn Elementary School. Barr-Reeve finished second, while Evansville Day School took third and Heritage Hills was fourth. The champions by position were Evansville Day School’ Sean Carroll at No. 1 singles, Barr-Reeve’s Tyler Bennett at No. 2 singles, Washington’s Michael Ramsey at No. 3 singles, Tyler Stoll and Corey Thompson at No. 1 doubles and Washington’s Jon Harner and Jake Bedwell at No. 2 doubles.

Washington cruises past Mt. Vernon

The Washington girls soccer team (5-3-1) defeated Mt. Vernon 10-0 Saturday afternoon at the Sports Complex. Mikayla Richardson and Shylah Sama scored two goals a piece. Washington also had goals from Jenna Johnson, Olivia Sherman, Elayna Brashear, Katie Hedrick, Neida Revolorio and Kaitlyn Davis.

Cardinals take down North Posey

The Washington Catholic boys soccer team defeated North Posey 4-2 Saturday afternoon behind two goals from Blaine Fuhs and one goal apiece from Zack Taylor and Dylan Walker. Goalie Jon Mitchell had 15 saves.

Cougars lose to North Central

FARMERSBURG — The North Daviess boys tennis team lost 5-0 to North Central Thursday. Braden Lawyer and Trevor Wikle lost in three sets at the top two singles spots and Ethan Hawk lost in straight sets at No. 3 singles. The Cougars dropped both doubles matches in straight sets.

Loogootee wins Invitational

LOOGOOTEE — The Loogootee volleyball team (14-1) won the Loogootee Invitational Saturday at Jack Butcher Arena by defeating Eastern Greene (25-7, 25-9), Borden (25-9, 25-9) and White River Valley (25-9, 25-16). In the three matches, the Lions were led by Michala Beasley with 29 kills and 27 from Christina Ziegler. Demi Richardson had 63 assists. Waylee Wagoner had six digs and 12 service points.

Cougars struggle at North Knox

BICKNELL — The North Daviess volleyball team lost to Norht Knox (19-25, 13-25) and Shakamak (20-25, 25-17, 16-18) Saturday during the Warrior Invitational at North Knox. Jessica Miller had six kills, four blocks and one assist. Morgan Wadsworth had five kills, one block, four digs and four aces. Taylor Jeffers added four kills two blocks, 21 digs, three aces and one assist. Chandra Bruner had four kills, two digs and one assist. Nicole Woodruff had one kill and eight digs. Lenzi Brewer added 12 digs and 11 assists. The Cougars junior varsity went 1-1 on the day and lost in three sets in the championship to Tecumseh.

Lions defeat WRV

LOOGOOTEE — The Loogootee boys tennis team (2-8) defeated White River Valley 5-0 Friday afternoon. The Lions got two-set victories at the top three singles matches from Gabe Nolley, Tylan Norris and Wyatt Wade. The doubles teams of Hayden Bell-Jordan Berry and Landon Bell-Caleb Dant won in straight sets at No.1 and No. 2 doubles. Loogootee’s Pryce Hedrick won the only junior varsity match.
