---- — Hatchets split four matches

EVANSVILLE — The Washington volleyball team split four matches at Evansville Central Saturday. Washington lost two consecutive games to Gibson Southern (16-25, 15-25) in their first match. Megan Arnold had four kills, two blocks and one aces. Lindsay Carrico and Emily Sullender had seven digs and Jordan Carr added nine assists.

In the second match, Washington beat Vincennes Lincoln (25-21, 25-20). Arnold had nine kills, five aces and three digs. Jordan Carr added 20 assists and six digs. In the third match, Washington lost to Evansville Bosse (19-25, 19-25). Arnold led the Hatchets with nine kills and two blocks. Carr had 10 assists and five digs.

In the fourth match, Washington beat Pike Central (25-18, 25-17). Carr added 11 assists and 11 digs. Arnold scored six kills.

Hatchets defeat Cougars

ELNORA - The Washington High School tennis team defeated North Daviess 5-0 at North Daviess Monday. Lucas Miller, Jacob Luttrell and Michael Ramsey won in straight sets at the three singles positions. The doubles teams of Corey Thompson-Tyler Stoll and Johnathon Harner-Jake Bedwell also won in straight sets.

Hatchets finish first

BICKNELL — The Washington girls golf (194) defeated North Knox (196) and North Daviess (213) Monday afternoon at Bicknell Country Club. Washington’s top scorer was Natalya Meinhart was 44, followed by Haven Lunsford at 46, Cheyenne Jones at 51 and Alayna Purcell at 53.

WC falls to Bloomfield

The Washington Catholic volleyball team lost to Bloomfield (16-25, 13-25, 9-25) Monday evening. Senior Mary Anne Wichman had one assist, four kills and three digs. Senior Maria Concellon scored five service points, two aces, one kill and eight digs. Junior Sarah Wild had three service points, six assists and one kill. Sophomore Kasey Ivy scored three assists, one kill, one dig and one block.

Cougars defeat Union Dugger

The North Daviess volleyball team defeated Union Monday night in three consecutive sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-22). Taylor Jeffers had nine kills, 14 digs and one block. Jessical Miller had six kills and two blocks. Chandra Bruner scored five kills, six digs, one block and one ace. Morgan Wadsworth had five kills and five digs. Madison Reed had three kills, 15 assists, 14 digs and two aces. Alexis Reed scored one kill, three assists and one dig. Lenzi Brewer added 14 assists, 13 digs and one ace. Nicole Woodruff scored six digs. The Cougars also won consevutive junior varsity matches (25-14, 25-13).

Hatchets have won three straight

The Washington girls junior varsity soccer team has won three straight games. Washington defeated South Knox 4-0 Sept. 11 behind goals from Mary Barnard, Kaitlyn Klingle, Caitlyn Riester and Lexi Hornback. The Hatchets defeated Wood Memorial 4-2 Saturday on two goals from Callie Gray and one goal apiece from Kaitlin Dant and Tabi Quass. Kaylyssa Cassida kept the Memorial offense at bay in goal. Washington defeated Pike Central 2-0 Monday evening behind goals from Kaitlin Dant and Kaitlyn Klingle.
