Freedom win first game of summer

SULLIVAN — Trevor Claridge went the distance to give the Washington Freedom its first win of the season in a 10-5 win over Sullivan. After Claridge surrendered one run in each of the first two innings, Washington broke out with a five-run rally in the top of the third. Sullivan crept closer at 5-3 with a run in the bottom of the inning, and Washington added two more runs to extend the lead to 7-3 and put the game out of reach.

The Freedom cranked out 10 runs on 16 hits - Branden Wilz led the Washington offense with three hits and three RBIs. Casey Miller had two RBIs, and Tyler Edmiston, Bailey White, Claridge, Nathan Sult and Trevor Resler had one RBI apiece.

Washington begins a three-game tournament at Floyd Knobs starting today.
