Alexis Lemon hit two home runs and pitched eight innings in the opener and Paige Hawthorne struck a three-run home run in the championship game as Washington won the South Knox Softball Invitational Saturday.
Lemon’s second home run in the top of the eighth inning gave Washington a 2-1 win against West Vigo in the opener.
Lemon gave the Hatchets a 1-0 lead with her first home run before West Vigo scored in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
Lemon allowed the one run on three hits. She also fanned seven West Vigo hitters.
Lauren White tripled for Washington, with Mattie Graber, Ashlee Hayes, Hawthorne and Kirsten Burks all having singles.
Sullivan took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning before Washington scored its four runs in the top of the sixth with the help of the three-run home run by Hawthorne.
Charity Graber scored the first run of the inning to tie the game at one on a wild pitch after reaching first with a single. Hayes singled behind Graber and Lemon was walked to load the bases before the wild pitch scored Graber.
Hawthorne then hit her home run to hand Washington the 4-1 win and the title.
Lemon again went the distance, allowing the single run on six hits while again fanning seven hitters.
