The Washington American Legion Post 121 Freedom started its Fourth of July holiday right with a 7-2 victory over Boonville on Wednesday.
Skyler Veilluex pitched six and a third innings to pick up his fourth victory of the year. Brayden Walls pitched the remaining two and two-thirds for the save.
Walls also had a base hit.
“I have been really happy with our last two performances,” Freedom coach Jeff Truelove said. “The pitching and defense has been a lot better.”
Hayden Bell led the Freedom offense with a double, two singles and an RBI. Gavin Benock had a double and RBI, while Levi Archer had two RBI with a single and double. Colton White had a double and an RBI and Bailey White and Walker both scored a single and RBI.
The Freedom improved to 6-6 on the season and 2-1 in the I-69 League.
“We have a tough schedule next week with four games,” Truelove said. “It has been really nice to see all the fans out supporting us!”
