Judy named to AP All-State team

ELNORA — North Daviess senior lineman Evan Judy was named to the Associated Press Class A All-State team as announced Friday.

Judy (6-3, 270 pounds) received praise from coach Scott Helms for the accomplishment.

“He’s the best offensive lineman I’ve had the pleasure of coaching in the 18 years that I have been here,” Helms said. “It’s well deserved, and comes from the dedication of his off-season work.”

Helms said he thought Judy would have a good career beginning in his sophomore season.

“I thought he had a very good future after seeing the work he started to put in,” Helms said. “He is a very fine gentleman off the field, but he can be very nasty on it. He’s the type of the player you can build an entire offense around, and that’s what we did. You usually build an offense on a back, but he was good enough that we built an offense around him. He’s the reason we were a power running offense.”

Judy is considering offers to play college football. He was omitted in Saturday’s Times Herald in a story about Colton Lengacher and Trey Parsons being named as honorable mention team members in Class A and 3A.
