WASHINGTON — Hatchets drop two games

JASPER ­­ The Washington eighth grade boys basketball team (6-2) dropped two games Monday evening against Jasper. In the A  game, the Hatchets lost 36-26. Max Lancaster led the Hatchets in scoring with 10 points. Matthew Stephens added six poiandnts Jacob Overton scored three. Austin Moody, Reid Neff and Logan Allen scored two points each. Jeremiah Kirsch rounded out the scoring with one point.

The B team (2-2) also fell to Jasper by a score of 43-24. Ben Lambert led the B team in scoring with 10 points.

Austin Fox scored six points, Chase Clymer added four, and Austin Niehaus and Curtis Tucker scored two points a piece.

Washington tops Loogootee

The Washington seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Loogootee Monday to improve to 6-3 on the season. Washington was led in scoring with nine points by Tyra Thombleson. Lakota Jones added seven points, Hanna Shrieves scored six, Elizabeth Stallman had five, Sara Lewis scored two and Jalynn Austin had one.

Lady Hatchets win two

The fifth and sixth grade Washington girls basketball team won two games at Loogootee Monday.

The fifth grade won the first game 28-6 behind eight points from Emily Klingle, six points from Paige Clymer, four points apiece from Ali Barber, Montana Murphy and Hadley Faith. Hannah Tucker chipped in two.

The sixth grade won its game as well, 19-14. Lawren Sandullo led the Hatchets with five points, Bridget King and Jenna Gray both had four each.

Madilin Dant, Katie Elliott and Lindsay Burress each had two.

Lady Vikings win a pair

MONTGOMERY ­­ The Barr-Reeve fifth and sixth grade boys basketball teams cruised to easy wins Monday against North Knox.

In the first game, the fifth grade (3-2) won the first and fourth quarters by a score of 32-0 on its way to a 45-7 victory.

Barr-Reeve got 18 points from Jacob Wagler and 10 points from Nathan Hunt.

Jeremiah Graber, Keegan O¹Neil scored four points apiece, Kaden Boyd had three points. Caleb Graber, Connor Heller and Mitchell Kavanaugh rounded out the scoring with two points a piece.

In the second game, the sixth grade defeated North Knox 52-19 to improve to 4-1. Tristan Graber led the Vikings with 11 points, Quentin Yoder scored eight points and Keshon Wittmer added seven.

Gage Wilson and Austin Ainscough scored six points apiece, Ross Knepp, Zack Sinnott and Isaac Wagler scored four points apiece. Gabe Gladish rounded out the scoring with two points.
