Basketball begins

WASHINGTON —

Washington and South Knox open the girls basketball season at the Hatchet House today with the junior varsity game starting at 6 p.m.

The game is the first of the winter’s schedule for area teams.

Washington Catholic and North Daviess open their seasons Thursday at 6 p.m. at North Daviess.

Loogootee is the fourth team to open its season with a 7 p.m. game at Shoals Nov. 16.

Barr-Reeve travels to Orleans at 6 p.m., Nov. 19.

Washington opens its Big 8 Conference slate, hosting Mount Carmel, Ill., at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday. The Hatchets make their first road trip the following Friday to Sullivan in a 6 p.m. game.

Washington Catholic hosts North Knox for a Blue Chip opener at 6 p.m., Monday, and then hosts Springs Valley and South Knox the following Thursday and Friday.

North Daviess plays at Lawrenceville, Ill., at 6:30 p.m., Monday. The Cougars then host Linton in a Southwest Seven tilt at 6 p.m., the following Thursday.
