---- — LINTON — Area track and field teams competed in the the Miner Invitational Friday at Linton-Stockton High School. The Washington High School girls team won the meet with 112.5 points and the North Daviess team finished eighth with 17 points.
MacKenzie Healy (WHS) finished second in the 100-meters (13.74) and won the high jump (4’10”). Teammate Kaitlyn Davis was first in the long jump (15’ 6”).
North Daviess highest finish was seventh in the 4x800 relay and Jenna Meadows was seventh in the 1600.
South Knox claimed the boys title with 167.5 points. Washington was fourth (73), Barr-Reeve was eighth (15) and North Daviess was ninth (14).
Washington’t Jake Brashear was second in the 100 (11.66) and Thomas Keller (WHS) was second in the high jump (5’6”). North Daviess best finish came from Tyler Smith in the long jump (18’ 5.5”) and and Barr-Reeve’s best finish came in the form of fifth place finishes from Kalen Ochs in the 3,200 and the 4x400 relay.
Barr-Reeve sophomore Jarit Perkins competed Friday and Saturday at the Eastern Relays at the Louisville Track Stadium. Teams from Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri competed in the event. Friday Perkins competed in first section of the 3200m race and finished 20th (9:22). His time was the fifth best in Indiana. Saturday he ran section one of the mile and finished 12th (4:28).
