Tuesday's Sports Briefs

WHS physical exams

Washington High School athletic office announces that Physical Examinations for athletes will be held at Dr. Cullen’s office on May 27 and July 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost will be $15 to be paid at the time of the visit. Insurance will not be filed. Athletes under the age of 18 will need to have a parent with them. If they can not have a parent with them there is a consent form available in the athletic office.

WHS basketball camps

The Washington Hatchets summer basketball camp will be held at the Washington High School gym. Grades 1-4 will meet from June 9-13 and grades 5-8 will meet from June 2-June 6. The enrollment cost is $25. The camp includes daily instruction in individual and team fundamentals of basketball. The participants that are registered by May 21 will receive a camp T-shirt.

June 2-June 6, 10 a.m. to noon

SESSION 4 - Just completed Grades 3 & 4

June 9-June 13 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Hatchets drop two

MT. VERNON - The Washington baseball team (5-10) dropped both games of a doubleheader against Mount Vernon Saturday afternoon, 14-2 in five innings and 11-1 in five innings.

B-R summer camps

MONTGOMERY — Barr-Reeve Community Schools have recently announced summer athletic camps available for elementary and middle school students. Forms for each of the camps can be viewed and printed on the school website ( by clicking on the word athletics. All participants for each camp will receive a t-shirt. Information and payment should be returned to the school by Friday. The camps all cost $20 with $5 for each additional sibling.

The volleyball camp will be for grades K-7 from June 2-6. Grades K-3 will meet from from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and grades 4-7 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon. in the high school gym. The boys basketball camp will also run from June 2-6 for grades K-5. Grades K-1 will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., grades 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., grades 4-5 will be 10:30 a.m. to noon in the northwest gymnasium.
