GPC Washington Open to tee off

The Washington Country Club will be hosting the GPC Washington Open Golf Tournament beginning Friday night with the Olon Shootout. Spots are still available for both the Seniors and regular brackets. After the shootout on Friday, there will be a reception for all the players and sponsors hosted by Nasco Industries. WCC and the event organizers want to encourage all participants to attend, and let the public know there are still openings for both events, the tournament and the shootout.

Devine named All Big 8

The Big 8 all-conference baseball team was named on Thursday with Washington’s Dalton Devine as the only Hatchet named to the team. Also named were pitchers: Cody Mobley- Mt. Vernon; Cal Krueger- Jasper; and Justin Beard- Boonville . Position players were: Craig Shepherd- Jasper; Joe Bobe- Vincennes Lincoln; Austin Krizan- Mt. Vernon; Spencer Otto- Jasper; Devan Franz- Boonville;Logan Brown- Mt. Vernon; Dalton Devine- Washington; Bailey Montgomery- Vincennes Lincoln; Cort Rodgers- Mt. Carmel; and Lane Kirkland- Boonville.

Final conference standings were: Jasper 6-0; Mt. Vernon 5-1; Boonville 4-2; Vincennes Lincoln 3-3; Princeton 2-4; Washington 1-5; and Mt. Carmel 0-6.

Junior golf at Country Oaks

Country Oaks will being its season of Junior Golf with two sessions.

Session No. 1 will be Monday through Thursday, June 16-19 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

Session No. 2 will be Monday through Thursday June 23-26 from 5:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m.
