Lions close with win

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 3 Loogootee ended its regular volleyball season with a, 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12 win against Class A No. 5 Trinity Lutheran Saturday.

 The Lions (29-4) got 22 kills from Christina Ziegler, 53 assists and 20 points from Demi Richardson and seven digs a piece from Waylee Wagoner and Michala Beasley.

 The Lions also dispatched South Knox Thursday in three straight games (25-10, 25-16, 25-19). The Lions got 18 kills from Michala Beasley, 41 assists from Demi Richardson, seven digs and 14 points from Abby Ackerman.

Kid’s race added to Arvin race

A kid’s race has been added to the schedule for the Race for the Son Nov. 3.

The kid’s race is a one-mile fun run at Eastside Park. The kids race will be held at 9 a.m. with registration set for 8:15. Thee fee is $15. Forms are available on the website at aracefortheson.com.

The Race for the Son is to fund the Derek Arvin Scholarship for Washington High School students. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Eastside Park shelter house.

The race is a 5K Run/Walk. Registration cost is $25.

Persons wishing to participate may register by going to aracefortheson.com. Registration will also held at the park beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the race.

Vikings eighth finishes perfect

JASPER — The Barr-Reeve eighth grade volleyball defeated Vincennes Rivet and South Knox as a part of the Holy Family Tournament Saturday to end their season with a perfect 20-0 record. The Vikings defeated Vincennes Rivet 25-13, 25-17 and South Knox 25-11, 25-14. Hannah Graber and Bethany Wittmer had 14 serves each to lead the Vikings.
