Lady Hatchets fall to Mt. Carmel

MT. CARMEL (Ill.) - The Washington Lady Hatchet golf team competed in a Big 8 duel with Mount Carmel (Ill.) on Wednesday. The Lady Aces took the event, as WHS was only able to field three golfers due to illness. Leading WHS was Haven Lunsford with a 49, followed by Cheyenne Jones with a 50 and Alayna Purcell with a 61

WHS falls to 16-27 with the loss.

Hatchets fall to Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD - The Washington Hatchet volleyball team dropped a four-game match with Bloomfield on Wednesday.

The Hatchets dropped the first two games, 17-25 and 14-25, before winning the third, 25-23. The Carinals then took the deciding game, 25-5.

WHS was led by Jordan Carr with 16 digs, 15 assists and two aces. Megan Arnold added 14 kills, while Lindsey Carrico had 14 digs and Emily Sullender added a pair of aces.

Hatchets take down Boonville

The Washington boys tennis team (10-2, 2-0 Big 8) defeated Boonville 5-0 Tuesday afternoon at Lena Dunn Elementary School. Lucas Miller, Jacob Luttrell and Michael Ramsey all advanced in singles matches in straight sets. The duo of Tyler Stoll-Corey Thompson won in straight sets also. At No. 2 doubles, Jake Bedwell-Jon Harner were victorious in a three set match (6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4). The Hatchet junior varsity won 6-0.

Cardinals bounce back with victory

VINCENNES — The Washington Catholic girls soccer team bounced back after its first loss of the season to Sullivan with a 3-0 road victory against Vincennes Lincoln. Senior Elizabeth Perkins registered a hat trick and fellow senior Morgan Smith added an assist.
