Road to Little League World Series begins

Pool play begins in Washington

WASHINGTON — The eight-team Pool A District 13 Little League Tournament opened Tuesday at the Sports Complex in Washington.

Teams from Washington, Ireland, Northeast Dubois, Petersburg, Huntingburg, Jasper and Forest Park played on the opening evening of the tournament.

Games continue on Thursday, with Washington scheduled to play Forest Park at

8 p.m. on Field B at the complex.

Washington continues on Saturday against Petersburg at 2 p.m., and ends the tournament at 3 p.m. Sunday against Loogootee.

The event coincides with Pool B held in Evansville at Highland.

Teams in Evansville include Highland and Golfmoor of Evansville, Mount Vernon, Haubstadt, South Gibson, North Posey.

That tournament concludes on Monday.

The top four teams from each pool then play elimination games at each site, starting July 3 and ending July 6.

Winners from each pool then meet at Highland at July 7.

The winner from the two pools then advance to the Indiana State championship scheduled to begin July 18 at Fort Wayne.

Regional competition is then held at Indianapolis with the winner advancing to the Little League World Series.
