Weather impacts schedule

WASHINGTON — Schools slowly closed early Friday morning following a Thursday night snow and ice  happening, and most area basketball games for that evening soon followed suit.

Games for Washington, Washington Catholic and Barr-Reeve were all postponed by mid Friday morning after many schools in southwestern Indiana closed earlier that morning.

North Daviess was still scheduled to play at Bloomfield Friday evening. The North Daviess corporation was closed Friday, but Bloomfield was open.

Washington now hosts Big 8 Conference rival Vincennes Lincoln Monday, with the junior varsity game slated to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Hatchets had looked at this coming Wednesday, but already had a Thursday home game with Evansville Day School at the Hatchet House.

Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings are also taken by upcoming games in the girls basketball sectional tournament.

Barr-Reeve was scheduled to play at Springs Valley, but that game has been moved to Feb. 12 with a 6 p.m. junior varsity start time.

Washington Catholic was set to host South Central Friday. A makeup date for that game has not been announced.

Loogootee was not scheduled to play Friday.

All of Saturday¹s events appear to be on as scheduled as of Friday afternoon.

North Daviess is hosting North Knox in boys basketball. Washington Catholic is scheduled to play at Lighthouse Academy in Bloomington and Loogootee at Southridge.

Regionals for wrestling at Bloomington and bowling at Jasper were still scheduled to take place on Saturday as scheduled.
