WASHINGTON — Baseball camp June 17 to 20

The Washington Hatchets summer baseball camp will be held at the Sports Complex High School Baseball Field from June 17-20.

Boys just completing grades one to four will meet from 8-10 a.m. and boys just completing grades five to eight will meet from 10-12 p.m.

The camp will be instructed by the high school coaching staff and players.

June 21 will be a rain make up day if needed.

Cost of the camp is $25. Anyone still needing to register may pick up a form in the high school office.

Lions beat Dubois

LOOGOOTEE - ¬ The Loogootee softball team used an RBI single from Waylee Wagoner in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure a 4-3 victory over Northeast Dubois.

Brittany Woody and Chassidy Bridges’ back-to-back doubles plated three runs in the bottom of the second to give Loogootee its first lead.

The Jeeps added one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to tie the game at three.

Sophomore Chassidy Bridges went the distance for the Lions, walking four and striking out seven for the victory.

Rivet trips  Loogootee

VINCENNES  -¬ The Loogootee girls tennis team (0-13) lost to Vincennes Rivet Wednesday afternoon 3-2.

In first singles Emily Bateman lost to Alyce Perry 6-1, 6-2. In second singles Erin Nelson lost to Bonnie Hinkle, and in third singles Shayna Stuffle was bested by Brittney Weber 6-4, 6-3.

Michala Beasley-Tara Pennington defeated Brooke Hoke-Lauren Carie 6-0, 6-1, and Hannah Walters-Christina Ziegler bested Allison Dong-Olivia Worland 6-1, 6-1, in doubles.

Hatchets fall at Castle

NEWBURGH - The Washington Junior High girls track teams lost at Castle Wednesday.

The seventh grade lost  51-49 and the eighth grade lost 55-51.

The seventh grade 400 meter relay team of Vanessa Gonzales, Sonja Mattingly, Emily Matthews and Marissa Healy placed first.

Healy place first in all of her events including the 100, 200 and 400 meters.

Sonja Mattingly placed first in the long jump, and Emily Matthews finished second in the 800 and 1600 meters.

The eighth grade 100 meters relay team of Madison Murphy, Makenzie Healy, Kaitlyn Davis and Danielle Gross finished first.

Kaitlyn Davis broke the Washington Jr. High School 200 meter school record by running a time of :27.39. Davis placed second in the 100 meters, at :13.24 and first in long jump at 15-9”. Gross finished second in the long jump (13-7).

Makenzie Healy received first in the 100 meters (:13.17), first in the high jump and second in the 200 meters.

Neida Revolorio placed first in the shot put with a throw of 31-2, third in the discus and third in the 1600 meters.
