Two days later, the team traveled to Evansville to face state ranked Memorial. Ryan Koerner was the only Hatchet to claim victory as the team fell 69-6.
“This season has taken its toll on our team. We’ve had kids get banged up all year. When you wrestle a schedule like ours, which includes several state ranked teams and individuals, things like that are bound to happen. Our dual record wasn’t very good, but that’s not what matters to me. What matters is how we are wrestling as the postseason begins, and we are much improved from the start of the season. I am confident the guys will work their hardest and perform their best in the next few weeks.”
Washington travels to Southridge for the sectional Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
